GMWDA transfers into the GMCA

From 1st April 2018 the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority transferred all its duties, obligations and statutory powers for waste disposal to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. The move is part of the 2014 ground-breaking devolution agreement.

Jennifer Baker

Head of Communications and Behavioural Change

Jennifer was appointed in April 2017 as the Head of Communications and Behavioural Change. The role involves managing the Authority’s Behavioural Change and Communication Strategy  by delivering a full mix of marketing, communications and education and managing the Authority’s reputation. For the previous 9 years, Jennifer’s role was delivering the majority of the same functions as part of the sub-contracted services within the PFI contract at Viridor.

Jennifer has over 15 years of experience within the waste management sector, having commenced her career with Blackpool Council leading on their three bin recycling service roll-out and associated education and communications programmes, before moving to Viridor.

Jennifer has a Foundation Degree in Professional Development, covering business leadership and management and a Professional Diploma in Marketing, she also has an MSc and BSc in environmental-related fields.

Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority
